Food is a key element in the prevention and management of diabetes. The availability of healthy foods is therefore a vital part of creating health promoting environments. For many people living in cities, lack of availability, financial constraints and a lack of time can create barriers to healthy living. Our Food systems must support a wide distribution of fresh and healthy foods at affordable prices. The healthy choice should be the easy choice for everyone. By engaging different organisations, the Cities Changing Diabetes programme aims to ensure that healthy foods are prioritised and that systems within the city can support healthier food availability.
